In the last twenty years, the work was done on the different problems related to the Qualitative Theory of differential equations. But during the last few years, the interest surrounded around the well-known Hilbert’s Sixteenth Problem which he posed at Paris Conference of International Congress of Mathematicians in 1900, together with other twenty-two problems . In this book we are mainly concerned in the second part of Hilbert’s sixteenth Problem, which poses the question of maximal number and relative position of limit cycles of the polynomial system of the form: (A) in which P and Q are polynomials in x and y. We write the system A in the form of (B) Where , and , are homogeneous quadratic and cubic polynomials in x and y. Chapter No. 1 comprises the basic concepts for general theory of limit cycles and Hilbert’s Sixteenth Problem. Chapter No. 2 contains an Algorithm for determining so called focal basis. This can be implemented on the computer to get the estimate for the number of small-amplitude limit cycles. Chapter No. 3 deals with some classes of system (B) with several small-amplitude limit cycles.

Allison, Jodine and Emma set their apartment on fire. No, they didn't do it on purpose. What kind of lunatics do you think they are? And don't go worrying. No one got hurt, although they did go to the hospital. Unfortunately, there was no one in white yelling stat!, no one climbing aboard a gurney to thump life back into someone's heart and no hot paramedic performing artificial respiration. What they do have now is one giant repair bill and no money. Problem? No way! Not for three bright women with a great fund-raising idea–they'll organize swanky soirees and dating seminars. Perfect. How could this possibly go wrong…?
Through the use of data collected from case studies, this book presents data on the Revised Primary Curriculum utilized in the Grade One Classrooms of two schools in Jamaica. The purpose of the study was to examine the Use and Concerns about the RPC by grade one teachers. The study was conducted through the use of the dimensions of the Concerns Based Adoption Model. The data presented in this book represents findings from an aspect of the author's PhD dissertation. Findings from 13 weeks of classroom observations of two teachers and interviews with the principals of each school are presented to provide the reader with a description of how the teachers utilized the RPC to provide experiences for their learners.
This book is essentially a must-have reference for people involved in generation expansion planning of power systems in this modern era. Using Jamaica's electricity system as a case study, the author shows how to foster the transition of electricity generation systems along more sustainable paths by internalizing the externalities of electricity in the generation expansion planning process, among other things. This involves incorporating the damage costs of power plants’ emissions into their traditional levelized costs of electricity, in addition to their external costs from other life cycle phases. Additionally, the book shows how the capacity contribution of wind generation can be determined, taking into consideration the stochastic nature of the resource. Finally, we see how the generation expansion planning parameter used in Jamaica, specifically the generation system reliability criterion, was investigated to ascertain whether it reflects the socio-economic optimum.
Tobias Smollett was an 18th century Scottish author. He was educated at the University of Glasgow with the intent of following a career in medicine. He traveled to London to become a playwright and when that failed he became a naval surgeon sailing on the Chichester to Jamaica where he lived for several years. The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle was published in 1751. The novel satirized human cruelty, and voracity. This picaresque novel portrays the schooling, courtships, travels, and amorous exploits of a young rascal whose pranks often border on villainy. Peregrine Pickle is an egotistical young man discarded by his family and hated by his brother. It is a story of good and bad luck. Each of Peregrine’s adventures is a portrayal of European society.
A Model of Verbal Interaction presents a vivid portrait of the verbal encounters that constitute teaching and learning of English in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Jamaica. It describes the linguistic codes used by teachers and students in the normal course of teaching and learning in the classrooms studied, and explores their context and motivations. Against that background, the writer then uses script theory to execute a detailed analysis of the linguistic patterns of the interaction and their relationship to the ecology (construed as physical space as well as network of cognitive and social relations). The book makes an important contribution to the discourse on the challenges of teaching the official language in post-colonial, Creole-speaking societies, and enriches our understanding of classroom encounters.

This work constitutes a study of the system encoding tense, mood and aspect (TMA) in the creole languages spoken in Haiti, Jamaica and the islands of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. The research shows how the TMA system of Haitian, Jamaican and Papiamento has been formed and hypothesizes that creole formation involves several degrees of input from both superstrate and substrate languages, in a process guided by language universals. Furthermore, it argues that not all aspects of the TMA systems are simply derived from the source languages but result from the interaction between language acquisition and creole formation. It is hoped that this work contributes to our general understanding of creole development.

This book seeks to examine crime in the Kingston Metropolitan Area (KMA), Jamaica, as a reaction to social exclusion, a condition in which a large segment of the society is shut out from the systems which determine their level of social integration in the society. Its interdisciplinary nature, drawing from the authors experience in both geography and sociology provides a unique perspective in which a spatial element is added to the traditional discourse on social exclusion. This will give the reader special insight into the manner in which young men in poor communities in the KMA are isolated from mainstream society and the role that this plays in the construction of ‘alternative'' careers.
