Caspian Sea is the biggest enclosed body of water on Earth with the surface area of 371,000 km?. It is considered as the largest lake on Earth which is located between Europe and Asia. Apart from having valuable natural resources such as oil and gas, being the habitat of the precious species of sturgeon and their yield roe or eggs that are processed into caviar, increases the importance of this lake. There are also various kinds of life from a large number of animals and aquatics to tiny benthic microorganisms. Benthic Foraminifera are one of these groups that can be used as valuable bio-indicators in aquatic environments and in petroleum exploration. Their distribution can be affected highly with the environmental conditions of the benthic zone and their fossils are useful tools for biostratigraphy studies. This book, therefore, identifies the species of Foraminifera and studies the relation between their abundance with the environmental factors of the benthic zone in the southern parts of Caspian Sea. The analysis can enable us to be more aware of Caspian Sea ecosystem in order to have more appropriate management programs to achieve the sustainable development.

This book aims at analyzing the oil and natural gas market in Caspian Sea Region. Known as the second Persian Gulf region, the Caspian Sea is considered to be the future centre of the world energy supply. However, it is still not yet open enough to the international energy market thanks to many political reasons. At the same time, the booming development in Asia created tremendous energy demand to the world, along with economical and environmental problems. This paper will only focus on the economic part as our scope. Specifically, I carried this research toward two directions. One of which is the west Azerbaijan side, which conveys oil and gas to the European market. The other is the east Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan side, which is more close to the Asian energy market.
The Caspian Sea, surrounded by the five coastal countries the Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russian and Turkmenistan, is the largest land-locked water body on Earth. The isolation of the Caspian Basin together with its climatic and salinity gradients has created a unique ecological system with some 400 species endemic to the Caspian waters. With habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, the introduction of M. leidyi, Change the environmental chemistry, Nutrient enrichments, the algal bloom events and many more, what is going to happen to the Caspian Sea?
The hydrobiology of the Caspian Sea has been systematically studied since 1934. Results of the present study showed that phytoplankton of Southern Caspian Sea include 193 species from 5 phyla, including 92 species of Chrysophyta, 45 Cyanophyta, 23 Pyrrophyta, 21 Chlorophyta and 12 Euglenophyta. Comparison of phytoplankton before and after M. leidyi invasion of Caspian Sea showed that phytoplankton species have increased over time.Although the abundance of Chrysophyta increased, but in terms of biomass, Chrysophyta showed a sharp decrease. This is because member of Chrysophyta was dominated by smaller species such as Nitzschia seriata (an aggressor species). The Pyrrophyta and Cyanophyta abundance and biomass decreased sharply. On the other hand, abundance of Chlorophyta increased. It is most likely that a sharp decrease in zooplankton predation due to their decrease in numbers as mentioned by previous workers (as a result of M. leidyi predation) that caused an overall increase in phytoplankton of southern Caspian Sea after invasion by the comb jelly (M. leidyi).

This book is about Iranian boundaries at a time when crisis of various nature are occurring around Iran, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan, with immediate effect on the Iranian borderlands and substantial effect of Iran's relations with her neighbours. Furthermore, issues like the legal regime of the Caspian Sea and the UAE claims on the Iranian-owned and Iranian-held islands of Tunbs and Abu Musa in the Persian Gulf create a situation in Iran's neighbourhood, which influence her foreign relations and engage the country in matters of international importance.
