Winston Churchill famously described Russia as "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma" and even today it remains a country little understood by the West. In this revealing portrait, Jonathan Dimbleby crosses eight time zones and covers 10000 miles in an attempt to get to the beating heart of the new Russia. His epic journey takes him from the Arctic city of Murmansk in the west to the Asian port of Vladivostok in the east, and he encounters an extraordinary range of people: urban intellectuals and entrepreneurs, war veterans and migrant labourers, spiritual leaders and aging rock stars, bootleg vendors and fish poachers, loggers in the forests of Siberia and fellow journalists under siege in an increasingly autocratic society. Russia is both a deeply personal odyssey and a mesmerizing account of a country undergoing profound economic, cultural and political change. Формат издания: 12,5 см х 19,5 см.

ICT has been adopted as a means of teaching practice in most schools worldwide.Teachers are required to manage ICT and the digital realities of the 21st century with the aim not only to impart knowledge and to help their students develop their skills, but also to create educational environments and teaching opportunities that will exploit the potential of and benefit from the use of ICT. The transition from a traditional teaching/learning environment to an environment that uses and exploits ICT seems to create, in principle, a sense of novelty, an enthusiastic response from teachers and students. This book aims to familiarise teachers with the new ICT classroom environment so that they can educate students effectively and cultivate their ability to deepen the knowledge acquired to adapt it to their own personal, social and professional settings.
Governments have policies on which languages can be used by teachers in schools. What is the impact of these policies on diverse societies? The Ethiopian policy on educational language of instruction now permits many different languages to be used in primary schools. This study looks at the interplay between socio-political changes in a diverse society, language planning and group identity formation. It compares the ways in which the change in Ethiopian educational policy has impacted the social group identities of two ethnic groups: the Gumuz and the Shinasha from Benishangul Gumuz Regional State. “Our hidden language will be visible for the future”, says a Shinasha father. A Gumuz elder says that “to start with our mother tongue is good. We have hope that we will be equal with the others in future”. In the words of a Shinasha elder: “If we plant the tree, and we take care of it, it will never die. Language is like that.” Besides the detailed comparison between the two ethnic groups, the study also examines how the policy on educational language of instruction emerged out of the context of the Ethiopian political situation, its rationale, aims and implementation.

This paper examines the demand for money in Libya using annual data for the period 1970—2010 by applying the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) cointegration approach and allowing for endogenous structural breaks in cointegration equation. The results based on the bounds testing procedure confirm that a stable, long-run relationship exists between demand for money and its fundamental determinants; namely, real income, inflation rate and nominal exchange rate. The empirical results indicate that there is a unique cointegrated and stable long-run relationship among real money demand (M1), real income, inflation rate, and nominal exchange rate. The real income elasticity coefficient was found positive while the inflation rate elasticity and nominal exchange rate were negative. This shows that depreciation of domestic currency decreases the demand for money. The results also reveal that after incorporating the CUSUM and CUSUMSQ tests, M1 money demand function is stable between 1982 and 2010.
