"All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players" (As You Like It, Act 2 Scene 7). This seems particularly true of the mythological and historical folk who have inspired The Bard. William Shakespeare used his knowledge of the classics, history and the Elizabethan men and women who were in the public eye, to bring to life his characters and give them depth and differing character traits. This book takes a look at the stories, whether fact or fable, that gave Shakespeare his ideas and gives indications of what may have motivated the characters in the plays to act as they did. This second revised edition has 52 pages of new content. Also by Kay Bellinger: Nothing New Under the Sun
This book is a complete volume of Newton's mathematical principles relating to natural philosophy and his system of the world. Newton, one of the most brilliant scientists and thinkers of all time, presents his theories, formulas and thoughts. Included are chapters relative to the motion of bodies; motion of bodies in resisting mediums; and system of the world in mathematical treatment; a section on axioms or laws of motion, and definitions.
The book is, in fact, a new edition of the one published under the same title in 1970. It has been revised and rearranged in the light of remarks and suggestions published in the press, and in keeping with changes which have occurred in the fields of research and creation themselves (this being notably the case of the final chapter). Departing from the formula reminiscent of an illustrated dictionary that was used in the first edition, the second has fewer illustrations. At the same time, the number of colour reproductions has been substantially increased and the illustrations generally are much larger, which has made possible a better presentation of the works. The book includes 600 illustrations, 315 of them in colour.Издательство: Editura Meridiane

This book entitled "Dead Reckoning And Other Sea Poems" has been inspired by a life-time of living near the Salish Sea. Through poetry, the book explores the flora, fauna & life experiences associated with living near the waters of the Pacific Northwest. The poems reflect the ebb & flow of tide as we pass through the various seasons (spring, summer, autumn & winter). Like the salmon, an icon of the Pacific Northwest, many of the poems reflect this "circle of life", which as intrigued people for centuries. Utilizing a variety of poetic forms, the book contains over two hundred pages of poems about our unique coastal community. 2018 Facsimile of 1962 Edition. The Book of Lies was written by occultist and teacher Aleister Crowley and first published in 1912 or 1913.. As Crowley describes it: "This book deals with many matters on all planes of the very highest importance. It is an official publication for Babes of the Abyss, but is recommended even to beginners as highly suggestive." The book consists of 93 chapters, each of which consists of one page of text. The chapters include a question mark, poems, rituals, instructions, and obscure allusions and cryptograms. The subject of each chapter is generally determined by its number and its corresponding Qabalistic meaning. Around 1921, Crowley wrote a short commentary about each chapter, assisting the reader in the Qabalistic interpretation. These commentaries are included in this edition.
Reflects the developments and new directions in the field since the publication of the first successful edition and contains a complete set of problems and solutions This revised and expanded edition reflects the developments and new directions in the field since the publication of the first edition. In particular, sections on nonstationary panel data analysis and a discussion on the distinction between deterministic and stochastic trends have been added. Three new chapters on long-memory discrete-time and continuous-time processes have also been created, whereas some chapters have been merged and some sections deleted. The first eleven chapters of the first edition have been compressed into ten chapters, with a chapter on nonstationary panel added and located under Part I: Analysis of Non-fractional Time Series. Chapters 12 to 14 have been newly written under Part II: Analysis of Fractional Time Series. Chapter 12 discusses the basic theory of long-memory processes by introducing ARFIMA models and the fractional Brownian motion (fBm). Chapter 13 is concerned with the computation of distributions of quadratic functionals of the fBm and its ratio. Next, Chapter 14 introduces the fractional Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process, on which the statistical inference is discussed. Finally, Chapter 15 gives a complete set of solutions to problems posed at the end of most sections. This new edition features: • Sections to discuss nonstationary panel data analysis, the problem of differentiating between deterministic and stochastic trends, and nonstationary processes of local deviations from a unit root • Consideration of the maximum likelihood estimator of the drift parameter, as well as asymptotics as the sampling span increases • Discussions on not only nonstationary but also noninvertible time series from a theoretical viewpoint • New topics such as the computation of limiting local powers of panel unit root tests, the derivation of the fractional unit root distribution, and unit root tests under the fBm error Time Series Analysis: Nonstationary and Noninvertible Distribution Theory, Second Edition, is a reference for graduate students in econometrics or time series analysis. Katsuto Tanaka, PhD, is a professor in the Faculty of Economics at Gakushuin University and was previously a professor at Hitotsubashi University. He is a recipient of the Tjalling C. Koopmans Econometric Theory Prize (1996), the Japan Statistical Society Prize (1998), and the Econometric Theory Award (1999). Aside from the first edition of Time Series Analysis (Wiley, 1996), Dr. Tanaka had published five econometrics and statistics books in Japanese.

Life and death in the clouds above the Western Front This unique Leonaur edition brings together for the first time several associated accounts of interest to all students of aerial warfare during the First World War. The first concerns the activities of ‘the Bedouin Squadron’, a unit comprised of aviators brought together from all over the globe who joined the RFC. The squadron became active in September, 1917 and flew the large Handley-Page bombers. Accounts of bomber squadrons are comparatively rare compared with those of ‘scout’ squadrons so this narrative is particularly interesting. This riveting account is accompanied in this unique Leonaur edition by anecdotes of air battle concerning one of the squadron’s American pilots, Sam Mandell. The final work in this book concerns the wartime exploits of William Muir Russel who was a first lieutenant in the American Air Service flying with the 95th Aero Squadron of the First Pursuit Group.Leonaur editions are newly typeset and are not facsimiles; each title is available in softcover and hardback with dustjacket; our hardbacks are cloth bound and feature gold foil lettering on their spines and fabric head and tail bands.
