A short self-study or classroom course (40 — 60 hours) for engineers who need to use English in the workplace.
Contains comprehensive coverage of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. In this title, the CD-ROM reinforces the material learnt with unit-specific exercises. It also offers a wealth of extra information and exercises online and provides useful preparation for students working towards school-leaving exams.
This book aims to develop both English language and communication skills. The six stand-alone units include writing a CV and a cover letter, and answering interview questions. Much of the advice included here would benefit native speakers looking for a job. The book is nicely laid out, with a good variety of exercise types. The accompanying audio CD is at times a little wooden and artificial, but as such may well be appreciated by the self-study learner. The use of genuine CVs and cover letters is appropriate for upper-intermediate and advanced students.
