An investigation was carried out on the distribution of yeast species amongst some ripe Nigerian fruits of economic importance with a view to selecting good strains of industrial yeasts for Nigerian bakeries, breweries and wineries. The fruits examined included Anarcadium occidentale (Cashew-Pulp), Annona muricata (Sour-sop), Carica papaya (Paw-Paw), Citrus sinensis (Orange), Irvingia smithii (African apple), Mangifera indica (Mango) Musa sapientum (Banana) and Psidium guajava (Guava). Six yeast isolation methods were employed. The experimental fruits were analyzed for their percentage sugar contents, percentage moisture contents and the range of pH of their juices. Experiments were also carried out on the abilities of the various species of yeast isolated to grow on media formulated out of the fruit juices. This included the ability of these species of yeast to utilize the fruit juices in such media as the sole sources of Carbon, Nitrogen and Vitamins. Thirty four species of yeast belonging to 7 genera were isolated from the fruits. The implications of these results with regards to the development of alcoholic beverages and bakery industries in Nigeria have been discussed.

Thereby this book is an attempt to explore the various aspects of the interconnection between various soil media, the man made artificial soil media (fertilizers)and various biological and chemical transitions in this highly valuable Sweet pepper. The analysis include germination rate, growth, vegetative characters and chlorophyll content.
Moulds are common, their active growth is observed on the walls, when there is a problem with high humidity in dwellings. On microbiological media they show allergenic properties, however, these properties can be different during growth in buildings. In routinely conducted mycological researches, isolated species are identified and their allergenicity are characterized, but only on the basis of the literature. Results obtained in this work indicate that a bad state of health of residents resulted from mouldy dwellings was mainly caused by the allergenic proteins, and the building materials were favorable substrates for the production of allergens. 39 allergenic proteins produced by moulds growing on building materials were detected, including 16 proteins (11 -93 kDa) not yet classified by IUISA, and 23 classified allergenic proteins. It was observed that moulds growing on building materials produced specific allergenic proteins, which were not detected during their growth on microbiological culture media. This book is addressed to the doctors and microbiologists who are interested in diagnosis of allergy to moulds, and for the scientists group in the field of building mycology.

To evaluate nutritional significance of edible wild and unconventional fruits, 13 samples were collected from different areas of Pakistan. The fruits were analyzed for moisture, ash, vitamin C by Spectrophotometer, Sugars (Glucose, fructose & sucrose), macro minerals (Na, K, Ca and Mg) and micro nutrients (Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn and Fe) by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Due to lack of information available on energy, micro and macro nutrients composition of these fruits and their role in contemporary diet, the assessment was carried out on the basis of nutritional quality. All these fruits were found quite rich in nutrients. Furthermore, as these fruits have not yet been considered as an alternate food products, measures to be taken to conserve or utilize these fruits, in order to reduce wastage.
The book composed of importance of calcium citrate and its percentage yield from different varieties of citrus fruits. The comparison between the percentage yield of calcium citrate and volatile is present in it. Hydrodistillation method has been opted for the extraction of volatile oil from the citrus lemon, orange and sweet orange. Further, the importance of plants and their extract as an antimicrobial has also been reported. The book in future is mean to help for researcher to work on such projects.
A study was carried out on fungi isolated from Roselle plants bearing disease symptoms. A total of 90 diseased samples were collected and 200 fungi isolates were obtained from the leaves, fruits and petioles. The isolates were classified into four species based on their cultural and morphological characteristics, growth rate and pathogenicity test on Roselle seedlings. The potential of Trichoderma viride as a bio control agent was evaluated in vitro against pathogens using the dual culture technique. Volatile and non-volatile inhibitors of Trichoderma were also evaluated for this purpose. Crude extracts of nine plants were made using cold water and hot water and tested for their anti-fungal effects using the ‘poisoned agar technique’.
This study is primarily related to growth regulators focusing on a major group ethylene produced from a solid i.e. calcium carbide (C2H4). Calcium carbide is best source of two gases, acetylene and ethylene. Acetylene acts as nitrification inhibitor while ethylene acts as phytohormone. Calcium carbide based formulations are effective to augment yield of vegetables especially cucumber. A pot experiment was conducted in the wire house of Institute of Soil and Environment & Sciences; University of Agriculture Faisalabad to evaluate the effect of different rates of formulated (paint coated) calcium carbide (CaC2) on growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.).
Even though the measures taken to support SME growth are crucial to the whole economy, the relevant literature has started to focus on the subject from late 1980s but still much remains to be done. The aim of this study is to investigate the firm and industry level factors that affect the growth of SMEs and provide an empirical evidence using the data from Turkey as an emerging market. In the study, firms are grouped as high-growth and low-growth ones based on their sales data and this classification is made for both nominal and industry adjusted sales growth rates. The hypotheses in this study have been tested on a wide sample covering the period between 2004 and 2007. The results of this study shall shed valuable insight into the studies of scholars, professionals and policy makers.

Social Media Marketing is becoming increasingly popular. Companies in all industries acknowledge the necessity of following this trend, some with success, some without. From research can be concluded that most direct selling tour operators are actually using social media as a marketing vehicle, however, a lack of focus, knowledge, proper execution and strategy often leads to failure in achieving (pre-set) goals and expectations. This dissertation provides direct selling tour operators and companies in general with a how-to into social media marketing. It indicates how and why social media marketing should differ from traditional marketing, how a social media marketing strategy should be formulated, how it can be put to practice most effectively and the potential benefits. Throughout the dissertation traditional marketing tools and media form the foundation on which the results are built.
New media developed in the 21st century allows conversations and interactions among people and organizations online. This capacity is referred to as social media (Safko & Brake, 2009). Twitter is the most active social media tool and influences the use of other social networks (Webster, 2010). Companies are entering Twitter to engage in conversations with their public and modifying their branding strategies to work within this new medium (Jansen et al., 2009). This study attempts to understand how news media companies that use traditional media, are integrating social media branding strategies into their efforts to engage consumers. In order to do that, a literature review was developed, which presented definitions and theories of media, social media and branding. Additionally, data were analyzed from six news media companies present on Twitter through a thematic analysis considering premises and theories from McLuhan (1994; 2002), Ong (2002), Poster (1995), Levy (1997), Li and Bernoff (2008), Kotler and Keller (2006), Hatch & Schultz (2002), and others. This study presents the potential that companies have to develop an organizational identity on Twitter and social media.
